Hong Kong-based Chen Hsong Group will offer Trexel Inc.'s MuCell process on its injection molding machines, the firms said.
MuCell uses microcellular foam to make dimensionally stable parts with lower weight, less material and reduced production costs.
Chen Hsong officials have evaluated MuCell for a few years. “We have confirmed the value it delivers. We have also seen the growing acceptance of the technology in China as well as the worldwide market,” said Chen Hsong's executive director, Stephen Chung.
Chen Hsong has introduced a machine, the JM98-Ai/500-MuCell, with 98 tons of clamping force, which includes Trexel's new Series III MuCell system.
Trexel, of Woburn, Mass., is aiming the Series III MuCell system at makers of small-tonnage presses. It claims the first all-electric, pulse-dosing system for microcellular foaming. Instead of air-driven, continuous-dosing pumps, the pump uses an electric drive motor to compress the nitrogen gas, dosing the exact amount at a chosen set point.
Chen Hsong builds its presses in Shenzhen, China.
