HPM said its all-nipping roll stands, for five or seven rolls, maintain uniform heat removal across the width and the thickness of in-line extruded sheet for thermoforming, never allowing the sheet to become unstable.
HPM said standard roll-stand/ cooling can allow the sheet to be either in a relaxed state, causing the sheet to droop, or to be put under tension and get stretched. That can change the orientation of the sheet, a problem especially in thin-gauge, high-speed sheet extrusion lines.
All-nipping roll stands keep the sheet on total control throughout the entire cooling process, according to HPM, a division of Taylor's Industrial Services LLC. HPM is based in Mount Gilead, Ohio.
