Krauss Maffei AG has sold a QuickSwitch extrusion line to a maker of irrigation pipe in Turkey.
Pancar Yem in Konya will begin making pipe on the line in June. The firm will use the pipe in its line of sprinkler and irrigation systems.
Because the irrigation systems must be adapted to local situations, the company has to make pipes in different dimensions and in fairly small batches. The QuickSwitch allows the user to change pipe dimension, at the touch of a button, in just minutes, without interrupting production.
The QuickSwitch line at Pancar Yem will make single-layer polyethylene pipe with diameters between 70-160 millimeters. Munich, Germany-based Krauss Maffei supplied a KraussMaffei Berstorff extruder, model KME 75-36 B/R, with throughputs up to 1,540 pounds an hour. Other items include a vacuum bath, spray baths and haul-off and cutting equipment.
