Ossid VP dies after motorcycle crash
FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Michael Steven White, 49, vice president and general manager of Ossid Corp., died April 21 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
White, a resident of Fuquay-Varina, joined the packaging equipment manufacturer in Rocky Mount, N.C., in 2004. Born in Santa Monica, Calif., he earned a bachelor's degree from the New York Institute of Technology in business management and labor relations.
He is survived by his parents, Carroll and Marjorie White.
Early thermoformer Glenn Blackburn, 84
WINTER HAVEN, FLA. — Glenn George Blackburn, 84, a thermoforming industry pioneer, died April 13.
Blackburn, who lived in Winter Haven, was a World War II veteran in the First Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army.
He began his plastics career at Portage Plastics Corp. in Portage, Wis., as plant manager. Beginning in 1966, he had several successful plastics companies, including Haines Industries, Winter Haven Plastics, Rebel Plastics, Blackburn Industries and Progress Plastics.
Blackburn developed processes and methods for thermoforming and worked with Dow Chemical Co. and BFGoodrich developing packaging films.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice.
Cancer claims Revcor exec A. Eschborn
CARPENTERSVILLE, ILL. — Archie Helmut Eschborn, 56, vice president of sales and marketing for Revcor Inc., died April 19 at his home in Carpentersville, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Eschborn, a German native, became national sales manager for Tec Air Inc. of Willow Springs, Ill., in 1985.
In 1999 he joined Revcor, a maker of engineered air-moving systems.
He was an active member of several groups, including the Society of Plastic Engineers, and authored Dragon in the Lake, a book on his underwater research as an expedition leader at the Rock Lake prehistoric site in Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Linnea.
