Johnson Medtech has opened four new clean rooms in a 150,695-square-foot, three-story facility in Shajing, China.
The Shelton-based company said the clean rooms will allow it to make 1 million more medical devices and subassemblies per year.
The new facility houses an ISO 6, Class 1,000 clean room with an air shower, as well as three ISO 8 Class 100,000 clean rooms, an engineering office, a testing lab and a document control room.
Johnson Medtech also said it will begin working this month on an additional control manufacturing area that will include an assembly line and an injection molding workshop. The site will offer increased medical design, engineering, prototyping, testing, manufacturing and supply-chain-logistics management.
Johnson Medtech is the medical products arm of Johnson Electric Holdings Ltd. of Hong Kong, one of the world's largest providers of motion actuators.
