Carbolytic Materials Co. boasts that it has created a cost-effective alternative to carbon black for plastics pigmentation.
The Maryville, Mo., company uses scrap tires to make its ApexCM carbon black replacement. The firm treats tires to recover original materials as oil, gas and the reinforcing carbon that becomes ApexCM. Carbolytic's new plant can make 10 million pounds of the replacement per year.
Automotive, construction, agriculture and industrial equipment are targeted markets for the new materials.
