ExxonMobil Chemical Co.'s transparent and translucent thermoplastic elastomers are designed for grip applications.
The two grades are targeted at kitchenware, consumer electronics, tools and other markets.
They are dishwasher safe and can replace PVC, the company claims. The TPEs also accept special effects such as metallic, iridescent and transparent colors.
ExxonMobil TPE F471-60 is transparent with 82 percent light transmittance. TPE F371-60, the translucent grade, has a light transmittance of 10 percent.
Both grades exhibit high flow. With a hardness of 60 Shore A, they provide a soft, rubbery touch.
The Houston company says they are odor-free and have good chemical resistance. They adhere well to polypropylene in two-shot molding or overmolding techniques.
The grades complement the company's other TPEs for grip, aesthetic and comfort applications.
