Technologies from Clariant Masterbatches and Milliken & Co. are combined in Clariant's new masterbatches that are suitable for clarified polypropylene.
The result is sparkling colors and high reflectivity derived from Clariant's Enigma reflections special effects and Milliken's ClearTint transparent colorants. Clariant will supply the masterbatches even in small-lot sizes.
The Milliken colorants will be available in masterbatches under the Enigma brand name in a range of transparent colors and in combination with reflective special effects. These include iridescent pearls and Spectrachrome, a multicolor flip technology using complementary or contrasting color particles.
Clarified PP can be difficult to color because dyes can migrate out of the material and pigments usually reduce clarity. The companies say ClearTint colorants, however, are stable and don't diminish clarity.
Clariant Masterbatches is headquartered in Muttenz, Switzerland, with an office in Holden, Mass. Milliken is based in Spartanburg, S.C.
