The machine is designed to join two parts, such as automotive door side panels and consoles. An interchangeable tool cartridge lets the user remove a tool and change to another one in less than five minutes — useful for short-run welding jobs, or for a variety of applications at different times on a single welder.
MS Plastic Welders said the machine allows processors to make service parts, when necessary, to meet demands of the auto industry, rather than bring out a machine to weld parts on occasion.
The company, a subsidiary of Germany-based Maschinenfabriken Spaichingen GmbH, makes machines for ultrasonic staking and ultrasonic spot welding, heat-contact welders, and energy-directed welding, which uses rib melts to bond two parts.
