InChem Corp. has developed a purging compound designed for colors.
The Rock Hill, S.C., firm said Colorgon is based on phenoxy chemistry, which has high affinity for pigments. When mixed with other ingredients and heated, the phenoxy component swells to reach dead zones in the extruder to wet out color contaminants.
InChem said Colorgon works at high agitation and reduces cleaning cycle time. The compound combines chemical and mechanical purging actions and is applicable to mold cleaning as well. The firm said the product leaves no residue, is nonabrasive and contains no hazardous chemicals.
