IDES Inc. has released a search module in its Prospector search engine for plastic materials data sheets that quickly accesses ``green'' plastics that are biodegradable, include recycled content or are derived from renewable resources.
``Since bioplastics have become such an important topic, we chose to develop a green plastics search to help industry professionals select eco-friendly materials,'' said Mike Kmetz, president of Laramie-based IDES. As the firm finds out about new bioplastics, its engineers update the database.
Technical product information in the search engine currently highlights more than 170 green plastic materials.
IDES manages plastic materials information. The company said it provides custom resin selectors for resin makers and nearly all resin distributors.
