Senior executives from Coca-Cola Co. and DuPont Co. have signed on as the final two speakers for the Sustain '08 conference in Chicago.
Hal Snyder, global director of technology and strategic planning for DuPont Performance Polymers, joins consultant and Green to Gold co-author Andrew Winston as a keynote speaker.
Snyder, a 28-year veteran of Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont, assumed his post in May after serving in a similar role for fluoroproducts since 2004. He also served in various managerial roles for DuPont in Europe, and will discuss the challenges of communicating and implementing sustainability initiatives across a diverse corporation.
Also joining the program is Scott Vitters, Coke's sustainable packaging director. He will participate in a discussion session that includes Kim Jeffery, president and chief executive officer of competitor Nestle Waters North America, and Simply Sustain LLC co-founder Seetha Coleman-Kammula.
Two dozen presenters in all will address basic sustainability questions such as carbon footprinting, waste reduction, energy management, product design, recycling initiatives and environmental marketing. End markets represented include automotive, medical equipment, electronics, packaging and more.
The event is co-organized by Plastics News and the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. of Washington.
