KraussMaffei AG reported selling several large KraussMaffei Berstorff pipe extrusion systems to customers in the Middle East and Europe.
* The firm sold a line to make large-diameter polyethylene, with outer diameters from 16 inches to 48 inches, to Emirates Preinsulated Pipes Industries LLC in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. The customer will use the line mainly to make polyurethane-insulated pipe for transporting cooling liquid for air-conditioning systems in tower blocks.
The line features a KraussMaffei Berstorff KME 125-36 B/R single-screw extruder with KW-RKW 36 and KM-RKW 38 pipe heads. Both pipe heads can be moved sideways on tracks, out of the production line.
* P.E.S. Productive and Industrial Co. of Tehran, Iran, has started making large-diameter pipe on a KarussMaffei Berstroff line, which includes a KME 150-36 B/R extruder and a KM-RKW 39 pipe head. The line can turn out 3,740 pounds of PE pipe an hour, with outer diameters as large as 64 inches.
* Riccini srl of Perugia, Italy, bought a KraussMaffei Berstorff line to extrude multilayer polypropylene well pipe, used in wells for drinking water. Traditionally, this type of pipe was PVC. The PP version has two layers of unfilled PP sandwiching a middle layer of PP with a filler.
The middle layer is made on a KME 105-36 B/R extruder the machinery maker's largest extruders for PE pipe. The longer processing units, with a 36-1 length-to-diameter ratio, increase melt throughput and total output.
The inner and outer layers are produced on a KME 45-30 B/R coextruder. The layers are joined in a KM3L 75 three-layer pipe head.
KraussMaffei is in Munich.
