German auto supplier Mann+Hummel GmbH is laying groundwork for expansion in Asia, with new offices set to open by the end of this year in Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Those sites previously were covered by Mann+Hummel's Singapore design and engineering center.
In September, the company announced plans for a new facility in Shanghai, marking its fourth manufacturing operation in China. It also is developing its second manufacturing site in India.
``It is our aim to be one of the top five suppliers in Asia for our industry,'' said Chief Executive Officer Dieter Seipler in a news release. ``In order to achieve this, we are pursuing our recent business activities in China and Korea by expanding into other Asian markets with our own offices.''
Mann+Hummel, based in Ludwigsburg, makes a variety of auto parts including air and oil filters and injection molded air-intake manifolds.
The new Asian offices will begin by focusing on industrial filters and the automotive aftermarket industry.
