Ken Braney, a European activist in the Society of Plastics Engineers, was chosen as president-elect of the Brookfield-based organization during SPE's recent council leadership meetings.
Braney is managing director of Thermoforming Solutions Ltd. in Dartford, England. An SPE member since 1995, and a 30-plus-year plastics veteran, Braney now is vice president, and was treasurer during the 2007-08 term. He has been involved with SPE's European Thermoforming Division from its beginnings. He also served as chairman of SPE's European Coordinating Committee.
He played a key role in developing SPE's first Eurotec conference, set for Sept. 29-Oct. 3, 2009, in Marne la Vallee, France, near Paris.
He will take the reins as president at SPE's Antec conference in 2010 in Orlando, Fla.
During the 2009 Antec which will run in conjunction with NPE 2009 next June in Chicago the incoming president will be Paul Andersen, senior manager of process technology and new development at Coperion Corp. in Ramsey, N.J.
The current SPE president is William O'Connell, president of Broconn Inc. of Hudson, N.H. O'Connell's term lasts through Antec 2009.
