Custom injection molder Phillips Plastics Corp. has implemented IQMS enterprise-resource-planning software in five plants with plans for a slow rollout at 10 other sites.
Phillips selected the supplier's widely used EnterpriseIQ single-source ERP software for its capabilities, which, among other things, may enhance Phillips' ongoing lean manufacturing initiatives and Six Sigma quality management projects.
The IQMS system for Phillips supplants outdated ERP software from the former Baan Corp. in Barneveld, the Netherlands. The Baan software could no longer be upgraded.
Phillips purchased the EnterpriseIQ software from Paso Robles, Calif.-based IQMS in April 2007 and pursued initial implementation from June through November.
Arnie DeWitt, Phillips' chief information officer, said in a statement that EnterpriseIQ provides ``the tools we need to run our business leaner and more effectively.'' EnterpriseIQ can combine core system functionality and modules often sold as bolt-on additions in other third-party ERP systems.
Hudson, Wis.-based Phillips employs 1,600, occupies more than 620,000 square feet and had 2007 sales of $260 million, ranking 23rd in the Plastics News survey of North American injection molders.
IQMS is based in Paso Robles, Calif.
