Wittmann Inc. has introduced a Duo cooling feature on its Tempro plus C line of mold-temperature controllers, allowing both indirect and direct cooling from a single unit.
Duo also boosts the cooling capacity of the temperature controller by allowing a rapid, total exchange of process water by the cooling water in the system.
Duo provides indirect cooling for higher temperatures, ranging from 194-320° F. When overstepping the set-point, a cooling valve opens to let cooling water flow into the coil. Heat is removed from the hot water inside the tank and transferred from the mold circuit into the drain or a chilled water-cooling system. The cooling coil acts as a heat exchanger.
Direct cooling works for applications from 68-194° F. Two valves open. One allows cold water to flow into the tank, while the other allows hot water to flow from the return line into the drain or a chilled water-cooling system.
Wittmann is based in Torrington.
