Syscon-PlantStar has added three new interface communication protocols to its library of machinery interfaces.
The products have been tested and installed in its customer base throughout the plastics industry.
One of the new installations uses the PlantStar Portrait system, linked via an Ethernet interface to the newest Mosaic-brand controller from Milacron Inc. PlantStar monitors four Mosaic-equipped injection presses via a single PlantStar data-collection module. The Portrait system allows the user to pick the parameters from the control that best suits the specific application or part.
At the same customer installation, PlantStar interfaces with Conair Group Inc.'s weigh blenders. Using open process control protocol, the device gathers information about the exact usage of each type of material used in the injection press.
PlantStar also developed a link to the V30 controller from Toshiba Machine Co. America.
Toshiba's Ethernet interface gives process conditions to PlantStar's stand-alone Data Collection Module so that parts can be diverted as scrap during the molding cycle.
These interfaces can be used with PlantStar's Portrait and Panorama systems.
Syscon-PlantStar is based in South Bend, Ind.
