DuPont Co. has added higher- performance polyimide parts to its Vespel product line.
The Vespel SCP family is designed to improve part life, reduce weight and lower costs in jet-engine components and aircraft systems. Wear, seal and insulator parts are especially suited to the new resins. The Wilmington, Del., firm claims the three Vespel SCP resins have exceptional high-temperature properties compared with traditional polyimides.
Vespel SCP-5000 parts are unfilled. The 5050 and 50094 grades have new filler technologies that cut down on friction and enhance wear resistance.
