Here's some timely news: President Barack Obama has been invited to NPE 2009, and there's a "good chance" that he'll attend. The scoop comes from the NPE 2009 Exhibitor Workshop, being held today and tomorrow in Chicago. Bill Carteaux, president and chief executive officer of the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc., the Washington-based trade association that produces NPE, mentioned the invitation to Obama in remarks to the gathering this morning. Carteaux told the group there's a "good chance" that Obama will attend the show, which is scheduled for June 22-26 at Chicago's McCormick Place. I hope Carteaux is right. NPE always gets some attention from the Chicago news media. But getting Obama to visit the show might help the plastics industry get some national, and even international, attention.
Obama coming to NPE?
