Sasha and Malia, the Obama daughters, have a new plastic sliding board at the White House. A small company in Winkler, Manitoba, is the proud supplier, according to this story from CTV in Winnipeg. The plastics company in the story is Acrylon Plastics Inc., which does rotational molding, thermoforming and profile extrusion. According to the story, Acrylon manager Ron Funk found out about the White House play set last week. "It's pretty cool to know we made that," Funk said. The slide is within sight of the Oval Office, so the president can watch the girls play. Acrylon makes the slides for Rainbow Play Systems Inc. in South Dakota. "Obama's people actually went to South Dakota to inspect the play set," according to the story. "They even tried the slide out." I hope those weren't Secret Service agents checking out the slide. Those dudes are way too cool, in their dark suits and sunglasses, to be playing on sliding boards. Needless to say, Funk hopes this moment in the spotlight for a small plastics processor in Manitoba will help him win some new business. "It would be nice if that particular unit would sell more structures for Rainbow, which in turn would be success for us," he told the TV reporter.
Plastic fun for Sasha and Malia
