PVC pipe and fittings makers Freedom Plastics Inc. finally was sold on Tuesday. Rock County, Wis., Circuit Judge Kenneth Forbeck approved the auction on Tuesday. Houston's Westlake Chemical Corp. bid $6.3"million for Freedom's Janesville, Wis., pipe operations. Harrington Corp. of Lynchburg, Va., bid $1 million for the Janesville fittings unit. Silver-Line Plastics Corp. bid $3.8"million for Freedom's Fort Pierce, Fla., plant. Naco Industries, of Logan, Utah, bid $400,000 for equipment at Freedom's Preston, Idaho, plant. Mike Harrington of the Harrington Corp. told The Janesville Gazette that he intends to operate the fabrication division in Janesville and retain its 25 employees. Freedom President Steve Scaccia told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he believes Westlake will continue to run the pipe plant in Janesville.
