Chemline Inc. has introduced a fire-resistant polyurethane coating suited to a range of plastics.Chemthane 7001FR can coat foam, expanded polystyrene and other lightweight molded architectural products. The hard coating has features that reduce labor costs. Users don't have to sand the PU to get a smooth surface, according to the St. Louis-based company. The product is designed to flow out better during the initial cure-to-touch time. Impact resistance and tensile strength have been improved.
Chemline claims its coating applied to lightweight plastics cuts production time compared with making architectural elements and wainscoting using fiberglass-based techniques.
