Distributor and compounder A. Schulman Inc. has formed an alliance with Add the Flavor LLC of New York that will focus on commercializing Polyflav, a product supplied as a masterbatch or additive for use in plastics requiring taste and scent enhancements.
Fairlawn-based Schulman said its Polyflav technology comes in two product classes: the Polyflav “S” and “O” Series, “both providing long-lasting flavor.” The Standard, or S, Series can be used in polymers to offer a strong scent with a subtle taste. The Optimized, or O, Series provides both strong scent and taste.
Schulman said the alliance has developed masterbatch products with such flavors as mint, raspberry, grape, lemon, chocolate and orange. It said Add the Flavor has a worldwide exclusive license to market and sell the flavored products.
“This latest introduction from our new product development pipeline continues to address the needs of the market with technology-driven, customer-focused solutions,” said Gustavo Perez, general manager, Masterbatch North America for Schulman.
The two companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal..
