Prototypes can include up to three materials and five layers, and can be done for materials such as PET, polypropylene, emerging biomaterials such as polylactic acid and barrier materials such as ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and nylon.
Precision AirConvey Corp. (Booth S56012): Will showcase a new return-on-investment calculator that can estimate the cost saving and financial benefits of installing the company's trim-handling and reprocessing systems. The calculator looks at dozens of input parameters including the cost impact of slitter or extruder downtime, raw material and reclaim waste, waste hauling and disposal, labor time, productivity and product quality. Precision will also display plastic repelletizers that enable film processors to capture edge trim, roll scrap and other film waste, convert it to pellets and reintroduce it into the extrusion process in a closed reclamation loop that safeguards material purity. The line accommodates polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS, metallocenes, coextrusion blends and other commodity and engineering resins.
PSI-Polymer Systems Inc. (Booth N67069): Auxiliary equipment for extrusion applications, including gear pumps, screen changers, mixers and melt-filtration devices. Also offers all-metal, high-temperature, leak-free seals for manual screen changers.
