Remember the 1968 Democratic National Convention? Some who do remember would like to forget -- but not everyone. According to this Chicago Tribune story, some members of Chicago's Fraternal Order of Police plan to hold a "Chicago Riot Cops Reunion" on June 26 -- the Friday of NPE2009. According to the "Riot Cops'" Web site, the reunion will be an opportunity to honor the Chicago Police "for their contributions to maintaining law and order -- and for taking a stand against Anarchy." According to the Tribune story, protesters plan a counter-march the same night, after a rally at Union Park at Ashland Avenue and Lake Street. I think the best bet for show--goers will be to avoid both rallies, to stay away from traffic tie-ups. But if you're going to be at NPE and want to relive the 1960s for the evening, check it out.
