German machinery maker KraussMaffei AG is expanding its capabilities for polyurethane equipment in Asia.
The Munich-based firm said it will boost capacity in both China and Japan, in response to a growing PU market in both countries.
The expansion of KraussMaffei Machinery Co. Ltd.'s Shanghai facility, established in 2001, is aimed at growing its position in the PU insulation markets in China. It will provide more space for customer trials, production capacity and mold design.
KraussMaffei also said it is focused on China's automotive market.
At its facility in Okazaki, Japan, the company said the expansion will substantially increase production capacity and laboratory space. The Japanese market, which it entered in 2006, has far exceeded initial forecasts, the firm added.
The expansions also will provide more opportunity to export machinery from Germany, it said.
