Dainippon Screen Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Booth W109054) has debuted in North America its digital printing systems that are alternatives to screen printing and pad printing.
The company is based in Kyoto, Japan, but runs a Screen USA office in Rolling Meadows, Ill., and is exhibiting at NPE2009 under the Screen USA name.
Screen's Truepress Jet650UV is a precise inkjet system that is versatile enough to print on plastic film, sheet and board, said Thomas Leibrandt, product manager. The system shoots extremely small spots of ink on the substrate for high accuracy, and the graphic is flexible and generates no volatile organic compounds, he said.
Potential uses include automotive dashboard instruments, labels, packaging, three-dimensional printing, and awards and trophies, Leibrandt said in a seminar at NPE in Chicago.
One Truepress has been installed at an undisclosed U.S. location and the transplant auto firms appear poised to buy them. A basic Truepress model costs about $650,000, Leibrandt said.
