Congratulations to flexible hose and tubing supplier NewAge Industries Inc. of Southampton, Pa., which was recently named a finalist in the 2009 Top Small Workplaces competition sponsored by The Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting small businesses. NewAge Industries and 34 other finalist companies were chosen from more than 300 entrants. Companies must have 500 or fewer employees, independence (not be a unit of a larger corporation), and be in business at least five years. Some of the winnners will be featured in a WSJ report on small businesses on Sept. 28. "We've worked hard to make NewAge a great place to work, and to see that recognized is exciting," NewAge CEO Ken Baker said in a news release. The company was founded in 1954, and instituted an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2006.
