ITW Jemco Engineering Co. said it will close its Minooka, Ill., headquarters plant by March 31.
We are consolidating our manufacturing facility, said Michael Skowronek, human resources manager at ITW Global Appliance Group, in a July 17 telephone interview.
Jemco is part of the group, which is a business unit of Illinois Tool Works Inc.
Skowronek said 22 employees will be affected by the closing of Jemco, which makes indicator lighting products and electromechanical devices. The company designs and molds plastic components and offers neon, LED and incandescent-light sources.
Employees will receive relocation offers or separation benefits and outplacement services, he said.
ITW will consolidate Jemco production into an existing Des Plaines, Ill., facility and outsource molded components from an undisclosed Wisconsin company. ITW cited the economic downturn as reason for closure.
Glenview, Ill.-based ITW designs and manufactures fasteners and components, equipment and consumable systems, along with a variety of specialty products and equipment for customers around the world.
The parent company has more than 875 businesses in 54 countries.
