Bunting Magnetics Co. introduced at NPE2009 a high-temperature metal detection separator; a new conveyer for moving thin-mil shredded plastic films and light fluffy materials; and a continuous cleaning magnetic separator.
The high-temperature, machine-mounted, all-metal separator can handle materials up to 350 degrees twice as much as the company's standard metal detection product, officials said.
The enclosed DragSlide conveyer targeted at manufacturers doing their own recycling and at outside recyclers is designed to fit under shredders and grinders, said Charles Whitt, marketing director for Newton, Kan.-based Bunting.
The firm claims the conveyor can handle anywhere from 100-1,200 pounds of material per hour and can be configured in straight, inclined, z-shape or hockey stick installations.
Optional rare earth plate magnets can be installed in the discharge chute to help further purify material from ferrous scrap metal and 400-series stainless steel.
Large manufacturers who have numerous silos are using the continuous cleaning separator at the bottom of those silos to prevent contamination before resins are used, said Rick Bigham, product manager.
The standard model has two tubes, but it can be built in configurations with as many as five tubes and also can be set up to be a hands-free operation, he said.
