NPE2009 provided Automatik Plastics Machinery GmbH of Grossostheim, Germany, a venue to show off its new pelletizers and its new name.
The company's name changed in September from Rieter Automatik GmbH, following the January 2008 sale of the pelletizer maker by Rieter Group, headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, to CGS Management of Pfäffikon, Switzerland.
Rieter had owned Automatik since 1993, but as Reiter mostly operates in the fibers sector, Automatik had become a non-core business.
The new moniker marks a return to its roots for the company, which was founded in 1947 as Automatik Apparate und Maschinenbau.
Automatik rolled out its Baoli strand pelletizer designed with U.S. compounders specifically in mind at NPE, held June 22-26 in Chicago.
The Baoli series is available in three machine sizes, with operating widths of 100, 200 and 300 millimeters.
The company claims throughput rates of as much as 6,600 pounds per hour for polybutylene terephthalate or PET compounds.
Also at the trade show, Automatik displayed its Sphero underwater pelletizer range and the Duro belt dryer for abrasive and sensitive products.
