Ferry Industries Inc. is selling the Italian-made, Leonardo automatic rotational molding machine, and Leonardo's maker, Persico SpA, will handle Ferry rotomolding machines in Europe.
The partnership was launched earlier this year. Ferry will install a new Leonardo machine at its headquarters in Stow in September. A demonstration laboratory will be open for customer trials.
Ferry will act as North American sales agent for Persico's Leonardo machine.
Instead of a separate oven and cooling station, Leonardo applies heat and cold directly through a special jacketed mold. Hot thermal oil is introduced into passages on the mold to heat it. To cool the mold, chilled thermal oil gets pumped through.
Leonardo also boasts the groundbreaking feature of fully automatic powder filling, automatic molding and automatic part unloading. Pneumatic cylinders open and close the mold eliminating the labor-intensive process of workers bolting and unbolting the mold.
Ferry has supplied a Ferry RS 3000 independent-arm machine to Persico, which the company installed at its headquarters in Nembro, Italy.
Persico will sell Ferry rotomolding machines to new installations and will provide service and spare parts for the existing Ferry machines in Europe.
