No question, these are challenging times for the plastics industry. As part of the leadership of Milacron LLC, I'm well aware of this reality.
At the same time, I'm also upbeat about our industry and our company. Here's why.
The day the former Milacron Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the mood at our facilities could have been dark and depressing. Brace for the worst day of your lives, bankruptcy experts had told our leadership team.
Then we made our filing and announcement, and a funny thing happened. Everywhere we turned, we encountered supportive customers, vendors and employees who were eager to move forward with us.
The response was nothing short of amazing — a display of loyalty to a company that has supported so many people's success for so many years. For me, it was an inspiring reminder that we're all in this struggle together. There's a real sense of camaraderie in plastics manufacturing, and I'm proud to be part of it. You should be proud, too.
I don't mean to downplay the huge challenges we all face. However, I'm very encouraged by the determination I continue to witness firsthand in the plastics industry. We're grateful for all the support our customers, vendors and employees have shown us, and we look forward to serving the changing needs of this great industry for many years to come.
