C.W. Brabender Instruments Inc. recently introduced a stand-alone laboratory compounding extruder, the Mini-Compounder TSE 12/36.
The miniature co-rotating twin screw extruder is designed to help the chemical and pharmaceutical industries develop new products.
The Mini-Compounder has an integrated drive with an output of 3.2 horsepower. It reaches screw speeds up to 600 revolutions per minute.
A clamshell barrel can be tilted open to inspect each processing step.
C.W. Brabender also showed the stand-alone TSE 20/40 twin-screw extruder, which can reach speeds up to 1,200 rpm, thanks to an integrated motor. The segmented screw can be accessed by opening the clamshell barrel.
The South Hackensack, N.J.-based company also offers a torque rheometer called the TLS Plasti-Corder.
