Pitman, N.J.-based K-Tron International Inc. has introduced the ActiFlow Smart Bulk Solids Activator and a new continuous gravimetric extrusion control package.
K-Tron officials said ActiFlow is an alternative way to mechanically agitate the hopper. It prevents bridging and rat-holing of material handled in stainless steel hoppers, using a vibratory drive and control unit.
The gravimetric extrusion package controls the extruder speed so its output has a predictable, repeatable mass flow, the company said. The package includes a K4G feeding and blending station that accommodates up to six feeders, a K-Tron weigh hopper that fits between the K4G stand and the extruder inlet. Customers have three choices of operator interfaces: the K-Tron Control Module for simple appli- cations; the K-Vision for one extruder and up to 16 feeders; and the K-Tron Smart Commander for up to eight extruders.
The K-Vision is a new product.
K-Tron also introduced to North America the Micro Cone, a low-rate feeder that uses a screwless rotating tube, or cone. The unit can disperse just a few pellets per second.
K-Tron also is offering the MT12 micro feeder, with several upgrades for increased accuracy and performance, especially when used for feeding rates as low as 20 grams per hour.
