Jet Edge Inc., a maker of high-pressure water-jet cutting equipment in Saint Michael, Minn., has purchased the intellectual property and blueprints formerly belonging to Calypso Waterjet Systems Inc.
Dallas-based Calypso closed down early this year after 17 years in business.
Jet Edge President Jude Lague said he plans to reintroduced many of Calypso's products, under the Calypso brand name.
Calypso water-jets provide an excellent entry-level water-jet solution for price-conscious buyers, Lague said. The acquisition will help Jet Edge reach a broader range of customers in that growing entry-level market, he said.
Jet Edge will manufacture the Calypso products at its Minnesota factory, which employs about 65 people, Lague said.
Water-jet equipment can do cutting, deflashing and trimming of plastic parts.
The systems work in many other applications, including machine shops, airlines and aerospace, automotive and even decorative stone.
