German injection machinery maker Arburg GmbH + Co. KG announced at a special presentation ceremony at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen that Tyco Electronics Ltd. is the 2009 winner of its Arburg Energy Efficiency Award.
Helmut Heinson, Arburg's managing director of sales, said it had selected Tyco for a whole range of special measures Tyco took in the area of energy-efficient manufacturing, part of which was the use of all-electric molding machinery.
Tyco Electronic has introduced specific measures worldwide for all its locations aimed at reducing energy consumption, thus cutting greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing water consumption and the consequent levels of waste water, and significantly decreasing volumes of waste through a consistent approach to material recycling, Heinson said.
Berwyn, Pa.-based Tyco Electronics has included a commitment to energy-efficient all-electric molding machines.
If technically possible, we intend to solely invest in electric molding machines from now on, said Matthias Lauer, director of purchasing for investment assets within Tyco's global automotive business.
Arburg announced at Fakuma that it now has extended its Alldrive range of all-electric molding machines from 35-320 metric tons of clamping force and has added a 1,300-size injection unit option.
