Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. has broken ground on its new hot-runner manufacturing plant in Chennai, India.
The 35,520-square-foot facility will have sales, customer support and manufacturing and sourcing teams, and will provide local hot-runner and mold refurbishing.
This region has great potential for future growth and investment here will allow us to provide an expanded offering to our customers, said John Galt, Husky's president and CEO, in a news release.
Bolton-based Husky had first announced plans for the Chennai plant at its annual meeting in December 2006. At the time, the company said the new plant would start in one or two years.
Husky entered the Indian market in 1999. In 2001, it opened an office in Mumbai to serve local customers, which led to an expanded customer base and increased business in the region.
The Chennai facility is scheduled to be operational within one year, according to the news release.
