York-based Graham Packaging Co. LP has begun manufacturing at its onsite plant at Henkel Consumer Goods Inc. in St. Louis.
Graham is blow molding high density polyethylene bottles for Henkel's Purex-brand laundry detergent.
Graham said 84 of its plants are onsite locations. The company also has a blow molding operation adjacent to a Henkel plant in West Hazleton, Pa.
By manufacturing bottles on site with our customer and feeding them directly into their production lines, we are achieving significant savings for our customers, both in transportation and labor costs, Graham Senior Vice President Peter Lennox said in the release.
Graham is owned by New York-based investment firm Blackstone Group. The company reported 2008 sales of $2.56 billion.
Henkel is a subsidiary of Dusseldorf, Germany-based Henkel AG and Co. KGaA.
