The Society of Plastics Engineers and the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. are collaborating in the sales and marketing of exhibit space for next year's SPE-Antec 2010, scheduled for May 16-20 in Orlando, Fla.
The partnership with SPI, plus other measures to expand sales of booth space, will create a trade show with 200-300 exhibiting companies, said Lesley Kyle, SPE's senior event manager.
Held every year, Antec is the world's largest plastics technical conference. The 2009 Antec attracted 750 technical papers.
[The technical conference] tends to overshadow the colocated trade show, Kyle said. Yet in 2010, the exhibit portion of Antec will be the largest plastics trade show in the U.S., providing industry professionals with their best opportunity to inspect new equipment and instrumentation, discover new applications for plastics materials and meet face-to-face with current and prospective suppliers.
SPE is based in Newtown; SPI is in Washington. The 2009 Antec was held along with SPI's NPE2009 trade show in Chicago's McCormick Place in June the first time Antec and NPE were held at the same time.
SPE-Antec 2010 will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center.
Orlando made news recently, when SPI announced Nov. 17 that it was pulling NPE from Chicago and moving it to Orlando. The next two NPE shows, in 2012 and 2015, will be at the Orange County Convention Center.
Among the innovations SPI is bringing to Antec is an online floor plan, showing available exhibitor space.
As previously reported, Wiley-Blackwell, which publishes SPE's magazine, Plastics Engineering, also will work with SPE on sales of Antec 2010.
