Moretto SpA unveils X drying technology
Italian auxiliary equipment maker Moretto SpA designed its X Technology for drying PET with low energy consumption.
Dryers in the X Technology range are:
PET-Pro drying system, which includes an XD Dryer 600 combined with the Crossed Thermal Exchanger (CTX), a stainless-steel hopper and an optional Flowmatik Uni System. The combination of equipment is specially designed to recover energy spent during the use of PET.
The X PET-Pro CTX is located on top of the hopper so the hot exhaust air can be transferred to the processing air before it moves into the heating unit, Moretto said.
Moretto also said the Flowmax PET system is its latest innovation for large-scale PET drying.
Massanzago, Italy-based Moretto demonstrated the new developments at the 2009 Drinktec show in Munich.

Cap Cooler doesn't need any refrigerant
The Cap Cooler from Green Box America Inc. is designed to cool injection molded caps before they are discharged into a collecting box as an alternative to long cooling conveyor lines.
After molding, the caps go through a cooling drum, floating on a flow of ambient air. The drum has a continuous helix inside, with holes for the air to pass through. The Cap Cooler uses no refrigerant because that would over-cool the caps, said Jose Garcia-Hernandez, operations director at the Bensenville, Ill., firm.
So the whole surface of the cap gets cooled, and they can be stored right away. We don't need any long conveyors, he said.
In other news, Green Box named two representatives for North America. LaBelle Industrial Sales of El Paso, Texas, and Applied Extrusion Technology & Consulting of Holden, Mass., covers New England.
