The Cap Cooler from Green Box America Inc. is designed to cool injection molded caps before they are discharged into a collecting box — as an alternative to long cooling conveyor lines.
After molding, the caps go through a cooling drum, floating on a flow of ambient air. The drum has a continuous helix inside, with holes for the air to pass through. The Cap Cooler uses no refrigerant because that would over-cool the caps, said Jose Garcia-Hernandez, operations director at the Bensenville,
“So the whole surface of the cap gets cooled, and they can be stored right away. We don't need any long conveyors,” he said.
