The second generation of a biopolymer database is now online. The data is managed by M-Base Engineering + Software GmbH and Fachhochschule Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
According to Aachen-based M-Base, the first generation of the database offered information about biopolymers that was collected directly from material suppliers. The data was incomplete and different standards were not comparable.
The team at Fachhochschule Hannover in Hannover, Germany, has collected material samples from most suppliers on the market and performed comprehensive and comparable material tests. The results of these tests will now be published successively in the biopolymer database. The newly generated data allows direct comparison of grades and searches over all suppliers.
Free access to the system is available at www.materialdata center.com.
