Rowmark LLC has purchased Triline International Ltd. of Milan, Italy, a signage designer and aluminum profile extruder.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Clearview Capital LLC of Old Greenwich, Conn., which owns Findley, Ohio-based Rowmark in partnership with local management, announced the deal Feb. 9.
Rowmark spokeswoman Jen Schoenberger said in a Feb. 9 telephone interview that Triline employs about six at its plant in Milan.
It will be added to [Rowmark's] ClearPath product line, she said. There are opportunities to Rowmark products to be used inside the aluminum frames.
Rowmark, which extrudes thin-gauge and multilayer sheet for awards, engraving and signage applications, has made four acquisitions since Clearview entered the picture in 2006. Those purchases are:
* The 2008 acquisition of laminated sheet maker Leathertone Inc. of Woonsocket, R.I., which supplies the engraving and musical instrument markets.
* The 2008 assumption of full ownership of Trowmark SAS, which since 2003 had been a joint venture between Rowmark and Austrian rubber stamp maker Trodat GmbH.
* The April acquisition of Color Path Technologies of Trenton, N.C., which makes hot-stamp foils for signage and the automotive and marine markets.
* The July buy of the engravable sheet division of Delmar Products Inc. of Kensington, Conn.
[2009] was a bad year for businesses, but a big year for us, Schoenberger said.
Founded in 1987 as the sheet division of pipe extruder Hancor Inc., Rowmark and its custom extrusion business, Premier Material Concepts, were acquired in 2006 by management from the founding Kremer family, with backing from Clearview Capital.
