Preproduction Plastics Inc. of Corona plans to replace a 580-ton press and add a 750-ton unit during 2010, according to Jason Middleton, sales manager.
PPI operates 11 machines with clamping forces of 100-1,100 tons.
“We are doing more structural foam molding at lower volumes” because of a lower market demand for the large medical machines for which PPI makes components, Middleton said.
During 2009, PPI invested about $500,000 for two Haas computer numerically controlled machines.
