Consultant serves up advice on leadership
TAMPA, FLA. Gerald Bell has learned some valuable lessons in almost 40 years as a consultant to leaders around the world.
We may be in the 21st century of technology, but we're in the first century of understanding people, Bell said at the 2010 Plastics News Executive Forum in Tampa.
Bell also outlined three vital areas for growth:
* Technical and business knowledge.
* The ability to commit 100 percent with a clear, absolute focus.
* Personality and leadership skills.
Solutions will only come from having great leaders, he added.
Bell founded the Bell Leadership Institute in Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1972. He also serves as a professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
