Manifold & Phalor Inc. and its division that rebuilds blown film dies, US Die & Mold, are building a 30,000-square-foot plant in central Ohio to more than double manufacturing space.
Manifold & Phalor is a job shop that provides fabricating and machine-building services. Once the new facility is built in Canal Winchester, Ohio, the company will move from a 12,000-square-foot plant in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Gene Moore, general manager of US Die & Mold, said construction should be completed in June. The new plant is located in a free trade zone, an important benefit because US Die & Mold ships to film equipment makers in Germany and Canada, he said.
US Die & Mold rebuilds and refurbishes blown film dies, air rings and screen changers, for film machinery makers and blown film manufacturers. It also makes dies and vacuum molds for corrugated polyethylene pipe, and rebuilds gearboxes.
We do complete refurbishments, cleaning and stripping the dies. We polish and replate, Moore said.
Together, the firms employ 25. and plan to add 15 people once the new factory opens, he said.
The Canal Winchester building will have higher ceilings and larger lifting capacity, with 50-ton and 220-ton cranes. The current factory has only up to 10-ton cranes. Heftier cranes are important to move the big dies, and the Manifold & Phalor side makes some giant metal components for strip-mining shovels and machines to make glassware.
