Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Americhem Inc. brought new products and expansion news to its first appearance at Chinaplas, the largest plastics trade show in Asia.
The color compounds and concentrates maker was joined by nearly 400 other new exhibitors from around the world at the Shanghai event, held April 19-22.
The firm showcased its latest products, including nGrain for simulated wood-grain effects, nDuramax high-performance ultraviolet-light stabilizers, and a new line of antimicrobial masterbatches.
We have recently transferred many new technologies for plastics from our North American and European plants, said Stanley Teoh, Asia commercial director.
Americhem operates a 35,000-square-footplant in Suzhou that was established in 2006.
With its current annual capacity of 1.3 million pounds, the Suzhou facility will add production equipment and increase the capacity to 1.76 million pounds annually within 18 months, said technical sales manager Frank Li.
Li said the largest markets for Americhem in China include synthetic fibers, building products, durables and products made from engineering polymers.
Wood-plastic composite products have become a highlight in the Chinese market, Li noted. There is a growing demand for additives that feature good weatherability, antimicrobial performance, and wood-grain appearance.
