China's market for windows and door panels is growing at 11 percent annually, estimated a speaker at the International Conference on Biocomposites.
There is big potential in China for wood-plastic composites, said Wayne Song, president of Futuresoft Technologies Inc. of Milburn, N.J.
Song said China constructs 15.4 billion to 19.2 billion square feet of buildings per year, more than the total for all developed countries. Energy-saving wood-plastic composite windows are an attractive solution.
There is a huge market for energy-saving construction in China, Song told delegates. Wood plastic composites have huge potential in interiors.
Song said his company and its Chinese affiliate have developed a window made of a wood, plastic and aluminum composite. Futuresoft has taken out more than 100 Chinese patents for the system, which is applicable to buildings as tall as 330 feet.
Song said 4.8 billion square feet of windows and doors are built in China each year. About double that amount is retrofitted in existing housing.
